Girls continue to be the largest excluded group in the world. They face discrimination and abuse simply for being young and female, and additional circumstances and contexts can increase their marginalisation. Girls deserve the full protection of their governments, and support from their families and communities.

New research from Plan International reveals the extent to which international law overlooks girls’ rights, effectively rendering girls invisible. Gender- and age-neutral approaches are shaping international law-making, shifting attention away from girls. Too often girls are falling between the dominant agendas of women’s and children’s rights.

Please join Plan International as we launch this major new report and wide-ranging Girls’ Rights Platform ( containing the world’s most comprehensive online human rights database and girls’ rights quiz.
