ENSURE SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION PATTERNS

Geneva has an active environmental community that is primarily focused on the intersection of the economy and the environment, known as the Green Economy. In addition Geneva hosts several secretariats of Multilateral Environmental Agreements.

INITIATIVES:

The International Institute for Sustainable Development’s Global Subsidy Initiative (GSI) quantifes fossil fuel subsidies globally and works with nations to eliminate them and invest in sustainable dimensions of the economy

The Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) is a joint initiative of UN Environment, UNITAR, ILO, UNDP and UNIDO, and provides technical and policy support to countries as they pursue a green economy.

LINKAGES:

Sustainable Consumption and Production (SDG 12) is fundamental for protecting our planet and its limited resources (SDG 13, 14, 15). The way we build infrastructure (SDG 6, 7, 9), design cities (SDG 11), and structure economies (SDG 8) has a massive impact on how people consume.
