END POVERTY IN ALL ITS FORMS EVERYWHERE

Poverty is multidimensional and complex. Geneva has expertise in many of the areas crucial to poverty eradication including decent work, health, and peace.

INITIATIVES:

The Poverty-Environment Initiative of UNDP and UN Environment is a global programme that supports country-led efforts to put pro-poor, pro-environment objectives into the heart of government by mainstreaming poverty-environment objectives into national development and sub-national development planning, from policymaking to budgeting, implementation and monitoring.

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has developed a Focus Group for Digital Financial Services to aid the 2 billion people on the planet who do not have access to a bank account.

Poverty (SDG 1) is not only about income, multidimensional poverty measures also include health and nutrition (SDG 2, 3), education (SDG 4) and living standards including energy (SDG 7), clean water and sanitation (SDG 6).
